Advancing next-generation separation pathways for Rare Earth Elements and Critical Minerals. Modular, low-impact pathways designed to reduce logistics, complexity, and environmental footprint. We work with developers and research partners to validate practical separation upgrading pathways desiggned to reduce logistics, complexity, costs, and environmental footprint.
Australia leads the world in mining, but too much processing value is still captured offshore.
Toreus is developing modular, low-impact separation pathways designed to integrate into real Australian flowsheets and enable greater domestic value capture. Our focus is improving the efficiency, modularity, and footprint of midstream processing for rare earths and selected critical minerals, helping projects move toward higher-value products with lower logistics and consumables burden.
We collaborate with national research partners and Australian developers to evaluate practical, site-relevant upgrading pathways.
Our Focus:
- Sovereign: Australian owned pathways aligned with national strategy.
- Modular: Designed to scale from bench to site reducing transport costs.
- Low-impact: Targeting significant reductions in chemical and waste intensity.
- Fit-for-purpose: Built for Australian project chemistries and impurity profiles.

A practical path to cleaner, modular separation
The Problem
Conventional downstream processing is proven, but can be infrastructure-heavy and difficult to deploy cost-effectively, especially in remote Australian locations.
The Approach
Toreus is developing next-generation separation pathways that aim to:
- Reduce dependence on bulk consumables and long supply chains
- Simplify permitting and waste handling
- Provide a modular path to higher-value products
- Support more of the value chain remaining onshore

We are in process with feasibility work: defining where we fit in a flowsheet, what success looks like, and what a pilot would require.
Current stage (2026 feasibility): In 2026, Toreus is running a structured feasibility program to validate separation performance on representative mineral-derived streams and define pathways toward pilot deployment. This project was made possible through the CSIRO Kick-Start program. csiro.au/kick-start/

Partners we’d like to hear from:
- Developers with rare earth / critical mineral process streams seeking lower-impact upgrading- Resource Groups with mineral-derived liquors/residues targeting separation pathways- Investors aligned to Australian critical mineral capability and onshore value capture
We’re building a short list of potential pilot partners as feasibility gates are met.
